Our National Day of Thanks is Saturday 26 May.
Many people have planned community activities. Others have more simple plans, but nonetheless just as important. We often underestimate the importance and impact of expressing gratitude to others who have made a difference in our lives and communities.
The mission statement God gave us says: Thanking God . . . thanking each other.
As we celebrate our National Day, let us first give thanks to God, without whom we would not have the blessings and freedoms we enjoy in this nation we call home. It was God who urged the Intercessors in our nation to ask the Australian Prayer Network to represent them in asking the Government for one day a year where all Australians could stop and give thanks to God. Thank God for the nation we live in, for the blessings and freedoms we enjoy, for making our nation a safe haven for the oppressed and persecuted.
The second part of our mission statement is to thank each other. This is an important action that can change lives. We need to focus on both Thanking God and thanking each other. Our National Day is an opportunity to publicly express a way of life we should all be living, a life of gratitude that changes other people’s lives.
The National Day of Thanks Team wants to thank each of you for your support for our National Day of Thanks, and to wish you all a great day in whatever way you choose to celebrate it.
